Our Thanksgiving Week

This past week has been great! D1 was home for a whole week and we loved it. Hubby and the kids have not seen her since she left in Sept. She brought home with her a roommate, M. who stayed the whole week with us. Then on Friday, another roommate, L. joined us and on Saturday T. and her brother came. Hubby drove them back to school on Saturday.

While everyone was home we had a full but fun week. We had Activity Days, Scouts and YW. Hubby had meetings. There was school and work too but then the fun started. We visited first Hubbie's family and then mine. We did a girls day and went shopping and then to Twilight. (best movie EVER!! even D5 liked it!) There was food of all kinds. D1 and M. made us an apricote pie, something new to us. Of course there was Black Friday shopping and breakfast. (I took D1, D2 and M. and we all survived.) We put up the tree in the frontroom (the family room tree is still in its box!) D1 had a hot date and visited with friends while the rest of us watched movies and even learned a new game.

On Friday night we took everyone downtown to temple square to see all the lights. It was the perfect way to end a perfect week.

I am so blessed and have so much to be thankful for. I am so greatful to have my family!

Okay so we all know I live in a house divided. If I had to choose a team a probably would choose Blue. But this year it was Red. And they won.

Oh wait you thought I was talking about "THEE GAME"! No I was talking the ward Turkey Bowl.

Everyone had a lot of fun and the Cheerleaders where the cutest ones I have ever seen!

Hope everyone enjoyed game day!

How We Met

1. Where did you meet?
Interesting story. His best friend (Quint) was dating my friend (Trudy. Trudy and I were both working ,Quint came in to see Trudy and hubby was with him.

2. What was the first thought that went through your head when you met?
He was kind of goofy but very nice. He also tried to stop me from leaving work and then tried to run me over in the parking lot.

3. Do you remember what he was wearing?
Jeans and a polo shirt. (it was the 80’s)

4. Where was the first time you kissed this person?
He kissed me in my apartment after a dance. The cool thing, he asked me if he could before he did. (always the gentlemen)

5. Where did you go for your first date?
We went to dinner and then dancing with Quint and Trudy.

6. How long did you know this person before you were a couple?
From our first date. We got engaged only two weeks later.

7. How did he ask you out?
Actually it was kind of a blind date. After I met him, that night I went back to work to do some inventory. Trudy was on the phone with Quint and they asked us if we would double with them that weekend. (I might mention here that I was seeing someone else at the time and thought it was getting serious.)

8. Has this person ever purposed to you?
Yes. I think he had a little encouragement from his friends or it might have taken a little longer.

9. Do you and this person have kids together?
6 wild beasties.

10. Have you ever broken the law with this person?
I plead the 5th

11. When was the first time you realized you liked this person?
Probably when he tried to run me over with his car.

12. Do you get along with his family?
Yes.

13. Do you trust this person?
With my life!

14. Do you see him as your partner in the future?
For ever and ever. He will never get away from me.

15. What is the best gift he gave you?
He loves me even when I wonder why.

16. What is one thing he does that gets on your nerves?
He watches TV to late at night but if that’s the worst thing he ever does I am the luckiest girl in the world..

17. Where do you see each other 15 years from now?
We will be grandparents and wondering where the time went.

18. What causes the most arguments?
We really don’t argue. Our biggest disagreements are on what movie to watch or who gets to pick date night restaurants. (see - very lucky!)
.
19. How long have you been together?
We have been married for over 20 years. I can’t believe it sometimes

20. Are you married?
For Time and all Eternity!!!!!

21. Who do you tag?
Anyone who wants to play. Thanks Sonja this was fun!

Veterns Day

Yesterday was Veterns Day. There was a really neat article in the Salt Lake Trib about my Uncle. (actually it's my great uncle, my mom's uncle.)

It realy makes you stop and think about how blessed we are.

I remember reading stories my grandma had collected about Uncle Norm and also visiting with him as he told us some humors things but I had never herd this and neither had my mom.

Anyway I just thought I would share with anyone interested.

Super Saturday

Super Saturday was so much fun. A huge Thanks to Jen, Sonja, Lesa and all who worked so hard. I am so glad you held Super Saturday. The projects were great and the mini classes were so good.

I always love to here Pres. and Penny speak and they inspired me again! Danika's Chocolate class is always a favorite, Lesa and Geri have got me thinking Christmas and some day D5 is going to have some really cute barrets for her hair.

I love the sisters in our ward. You guys are the greatest!

Halloween ... Rushton Style

Like everything in our lives now days, the week leading up to Halloween was a little insane. I had 4 classes in 5 days. The older kids had two youth activities two nights in a row. Hubby had meeting. Only son and D5 had school activities. We also had a Birthday party, a Halloween party to prepare for, scouts, mid terms, a care package to put together and a bunch of other stuff that all blends in together. It was crazy. But the kids were excited and so was I. Thursday night came and we still had not done our pumpkins so when the older ones got home we started our Jack-o-Lanterns. It was late when we got done but everyone had a good time. D3 and Only Son took their turns with the knife and there wasn't even any bleeding or loss of limbs. (remember, D3 almost cut off her thumb a couple years back, cutting a plum with a butcher knife...don't ask!)

The house was decorated, the costumes were done, the candy was bought and the dinner was ready to go. We were excited and waiting for Halloween.

Halloween started early in the morning when only son woke up with a very sick stomach. By seven, we knew he wasn't going to make it to school. Big Bummer, he was so looking forward to it, I was to, as I am his room mother for the last time.

He also missed going to the grandparents for Trick or treating. He did feel well enough to go to the trunk or treat. In the past our rule has been if you don't trick or treat with mom you don't go. None of this friend stuff. I felt bad for him because he had missed so much of the days activities that when his friends asked him to go I relented. He didn't last long though before he was home and done.

D2 and D3 went to friends houses. D4 had her own party and hubby went home to chaperon. I took D5 and a friend through the neighborhood. It was a very different experience for me, as usually I have about 6 or 7 kids with us.

It was a fun night, but since hubby doesn't like Halloween and the kids are wanting to do their own things it makes me wonder... what am I going to do in a couple of years when no one wants to spend Halloween with me?
