Fun With The Youth-Part 2

Last Wednesday, someone kidnapped Bishop Wood!

The young Detectives had to figure out who it was.

The Suspects (sorry some of the photos are really blurry)

Sis. Pheasant An accomplished musician who is grumpy with the bishop because he wouldn't approve her music choice.

Brother Adams- the Elder's Quorum President and an avid golf nut.  Bishop beat him at the last tournament.

Sister Grace, the activities committee leader, she thinks the bishop has stiffed her.

Sister Snow, A.K.A the black widow.  She wants to date the bishops son.

Professor Prune is very irritated with the bishops grammar!

Brother Brown hates the bishop's use of baseball illustrations.

Sister Spears is considering being offended by the bishops talks.

Colonel Musket A good army man who disagrees with the bishops political choices

Ben Burnsides loves to cook dinners for all the activities but did the bishop make fun of this short tempered man?

Bubba is the Bishops mechanic but he has a bit of a conspiracy theory complex.
The detectives had to question the suspects to figure out what weapon was used, what room the crime took place in and of course who did it.

There was a police officer...

and if the detectives broke the rules, they got thrown in jail...

But they could always plead their case

to the judge!

In the end, the kidnapper was caught and the case was solved.

I think the youth had a great time, I know I did.

Fun With The Youth--Part 1

Okay, don't everyone pass out.  I know I have been a horrible blogger as of late but it has been a little (okay a whole lot) busy.

I would try to get caught up but there is just to much to mentions and I am sure it would bore most of you anyway.

One big thing that happened was I got a new calling.  (about two months ago.)  I am now the Young Women's president of our ward.  I loved serving with R.L and D.W and the others.  I was sad to see them go onto other places to serve.  I am not sure how the girls feel about this change but I have to say I LOVE my new calling (that is when I am not scared to death of my new calling!)

The best part is I get to hang out with all of our fun youth.

In August the bishop gave all the youth a challenge to read the D&C by October. Those who took and finished the challenge would get to go to a corn maze. Last week we loaded up 5 boys, 5 girls and 4 leaders who finished the challenge along with the Bishop and his wife and went to Cornbellys at Thanksgiving Point. Besides the corn maze there were lots of other things to do. Here are just a few of the many photos I took (and some I borrowed from D. )

It rained and SNOWED while we were there.  I did a lot of hanging out at the fire pits.

Guess who was the biggest pansy in the "haunted cave?"  Yep D3 and D4 screamed all the way through it!!

It was so tempting to leave her there!

Thanks Bishop and you wonderful Youth.  You really are the best.

Who told her she could grow up?

D5 has been growing her hair out for over a year.  Its long, stringy and unmanageable.  She loved it long but she also wanted to donate it.  Last night after much thought (on her part not mine) she decided it was time.
Here is a before picture.

Here is an after shot.

Doesn't she look so grown up?  And she made a big grown up decision also.  I am so proud of her (and a little sad, my baby is growing up.)

In Honor of my Grandma

My dear grandma passed away this last weekend on Aug 7.  How grateful I am to be her grandaughter.  I learned so much from her.  Other than my own mother, she has influenced my life more than any other person.

Her passing was a blessing.  She wanted to be reunited with so many who had gone before.  We are not sad, we are happy for her.  But she will be missed.  More than any words can say.

Ragnar Report

Wow, I didn't think it would really take me to July to post but so much has happened that it has.  I have a lot to catch up on.

First things first,

Hubby and his teammates did the Ragnar in June.  If you are not sure what the Ragnar is, let me explain.  It is a 188 mile run with a team of 12 runners. Each runner, runs three legs and each leg is anywhere from 5 to 8 miles. Hubby's team started at around 8 am Friday morning and finished around 3 pm Saturday.  --CRAZY!!

We drove up to Park City on Saturday to see them run in.  It was hot and I have never seen so many people in one place in all my life.  Truly it was insane.

Bishop was the final runner on the team

The whole team crossing the finish line together.

The team, 7 women and 5 men

The team logo, one of the rules were that the vans that carried the runners had to be decorated.  This is the back window on the van Hubby rode in.

He was very tired (and a little smelly) but D5 was glad to have him back. Check out that medal!

I am so proud of hubby, he trained very hard.  I am also glad there were no injuries and they had a lot of fun.

I still think its CRAZY!!!! (but what do I know.)

Is it June already?

Don't get me wrong, I love it. Warm sunny days, vacations planned and only 6 months till Christmas; but really how did we get to June?

School is out for all of the kids. The last two weeks of school are always such a whirlwind. There are concerts and performances, field days and field trips, carnivals and movie days. There is also that last minute report, the finals to study for. Graduations and promotions, (even if it is just for friends.) Last get togethers and parties..

We also had 3 birthdays, my moms, my mother-in-laws and Only Son's. Only Son celebrated his 13th with a slumber party ...

I can not believe he is already a teenager.  Time goes by way to quickly!  He and his friends had a great time running through the house, playing Nerf gun wars, watching movies and eating pizza.  They also loved tormenting D1 and her friends.

Oh yeah, did I mention that the same night as the planned sleepover D1 came home for Memorial Day weekend with some of her roomies...

Along with M and M we had other friends and FHE brothers in and out all weekend. (and lots more pizza!) Oh and did I mention we also had the Golden Years Banquet and the Seminary Closing Social all on that day also?

Last weekend was hubby's and mine 22nd anniversary. It was time for a break so we headed up to Ogden.  We got a nice room at a Pine View Hotel in Ogden Canyon.  After getting lost in Ogden we finally found a place to eat and then watched the movie Prince of Persia (I really liked it.)
Saturday morning we did some hiking up Ogden Canyon.

It was so nice to get away even if it was only a little overnighter.  I believe I am one of the luckiest women in the world.  I have now been married longer than I was not, I am not sure how that happened but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Hubby truly is my best friend and I am looking forward to many more wonderful adventures with him.

So June is here, let the madness of jobs, friends, vacations, camps, reunions and all those other activities begin... I am ready...I think.

We will just make sure there is lots of pizza!

and time to be together

and hopefully time to rest,

Maybe I will see you in July!

Girls Night Out

I have the best family. My mom, sisters and sister-in-laws are my closest friends and we have so much fun when we are together.

Last Friday, Carla hosted a "do it yourself" Spa night. Some of the older granddaughters joined us for a night of pampering.

We did facials and mud masks...

There was LOTS and LOTS  of nail polish ...

We also did Satin Hands and Manicures

Foot soaks and pedicures...  (oh so relaxing)

Waxing ...and I don't care what anyone says (Carla)... It HURTS!!!

But probably the biggest hit of the evening was the (faux) Glitter Toes . . .

We also enjoyed a nice dinner.  When all was said and done we were beautiful and relaxed...

(well some of us were)

What a great evening.  I can't wait to do it again.
