Awards Nights

Yes, I said Nights,as in plural. It has been one very busy and crazy week but a good one.

On Tuesday, Hubby, D2 and I went to an awards banquet for Cyprus. D2 was recognized for receiving a scholarship. She actually got 2 but because they were both to attend different schools and the second one came a little latter she was only recognized for the first one. We are so proud of her, she has worked hard these past few years and it has paid off.

On Wednesday night, Hubby, D4 and D5 and I went to an awards night at the Junior High. D4 received the Presidential award, this is an award given to students whose GPA is 3.8 or above and have succeeded in citizenship and extra circular activities. I have a photo of D4. I forgot my camera at D2's (oops' bad me!)

On Friday, at yet another awards ceremony for the Drama department, D4 was awarded Best 8th Grade Actress.

We are not done yet, this week we have Seminary, 6th grade and High School graduation. I am sure I will be posting and "bragging" before the weeks out!

She would make a good big sister

OH D5 is growing up so fast. I can't believe sometimes that this is my baby. What does she want more than anything? A baby sister of course. I have no doubt she would make a great big sister but that's just not going to happen. For now she will just have to settle for being a big cousin.

Memorial Day

What a great day we had yesterday. We met my sister and her family and then went out to Antelope Island and did a hike. The weather was nice and we had a good time. The bugs were thick but a little bug repellent and we were off!

On our hike we saw all kinds of wild life including some buffaloes and Antelope(we didn't get to close to any of them). We also saw a couple of Lizards and lots of birds oh and did I mention bugs.

After hiking for a couple of hours we went back to my sisters for a bbq. My mom joined us for that and the kids had a blast hanging out with cousins.

We got home in time for D2 to go to work (yes she started back this week). We were tired and dirty but it was a very nice day!

Weekend at Mom's

You would think that at some point things would slow down, that I would find time to do simple things like blogging. I could tell you a 100 reasons why I haven't blogged in so long but it would only bore you.

This past weekend we did go up to moms for a first of many "weed and feed" party. Due to the choir practice downtown at the conference center and a birthday party for an old friend, we ended up getting to moms late and missed most of the weeding part of the party. We did enjoy the feeding part and the kids loved hanging out with their cousins. (we missed those who were not there!)

Just to prove that we were there for a little of the time and did do a little of the work, I am posting a few photos.

PS if I haven't mentioned this, I am LOVING this warm weather! It makes me happy.

Only Son's Big Weekend

Only Son had a big weekend. We celebrated his 12th birthday with family and friends.

We started the day with dance practice. When we returned home we took him to get a new suit and hair cut. Then out to lunch.

That afternoon two of his friends joined us for a party at Hollywood connections. We played minuter golf, rode rides, played arcade games and when roller skating. Finally we had ice cream before taking all the boys home.

Somehow in all of that we had time for presents, spankings (by dad of course) and family time.

On Sunday, Hubby ordained Only Son as a deacon. Two of my sisters and their families, My mom and Hubby's parents were all there. It was really a neat day!

Doesn't he look so grown up.

In honor of his 12th birthday, here are 12 things that I love about him.
1. He is a gentlemen and opens my door whenever Hubby isn't there.
2. He still likes to be tucked in at night.
3. He loves to tell jokes and
4. He has a great sense of humor!
5. He is kind to all of his sisters (even when they do drive him nuts!)
6. He never gives up, even when something is hard!
7. He is an example to me. He never forgets to pray and reminds me often when I forget.
8. He is a great big brother to D5.
9. He is very creative but he is ALL boy
10. He is an artist. He draws so well, even if it is all monsters and dragons.
11. He is honest
12. He is a good fishermen.

And a bonus... He likes to hang out with his mom!

Happy Birthday only Son! I love you

Women's Conference

I don't have any pictures to post but I have just had a most amazing week and wanted to share some of my feelings.

My dear Friend, Danika, invited me to attend BYU Women's Conference this week. It was so amazing! We took some great classes and herd from Pres. Beck, Pres. Dalton, Pres. Lant, Jill Stevens, Ruth Todd and Elder L. Tom Parry, just to name a few.

I have been taught and uplifted in so many ways. One of my favorite classes was taught by Ruth Todd. She talked about how we as mothers have Veto power and can stop the evil influences that surround our daughters (and sons) just by saying NO!

Another favorite class was taught by Susan Jones entitled, "Stand in Awe...and be Still". Sister Jones talked about two types of water that we should seek. Still Waters and living Waters. Our Savior offers the Living water, we just have to partake of it. The Still Waters are ours to find. For me this is the hard part; finding time to be still, to say prayers, to ponder, to read my scriptures. I am going to do better. I am going to make finding Still waters a priority.

Thank you Danika for inviting me. What a great week it has been!
