Proud Of My Daughters

Last night was our YW in Excellence night and D2 & D4 both were recognized for receiving their medallions this past year. It was a really neat thing. They have both worked so hard. D4 is only a beehive and for D2 this is her second time to receive it. I know I complain sometimes, but I really do have good kids!

My Blessings

So Jen's talk on Sunday, really got me thinking. I get so caught up in the day to day stuff of "life" I often times forget what my true calling in life is. But right here is my greatest blessings.

It is so easy to get taken away by the worries of finances, collage, work, the future, the house work and the mundane everyday things. I know I also sometimes get thinking that I am only a mom to grown-up/teenagers that I forget the little ones still need me; and the big ones do too! Its a balancing act for sure.

The word "teacher" scares me. I can teach a whole room full of ladies how to scrapbook but I often don't take the time to teach, really look into my child's eyes and teach. But I am going to do better. I am going to reprioritize and remember my blessings! Thank you for reminding me.

Life With Kids

So just a normal week around here. Nothing to exciting. The big news was 2 new hair cuts: Daughters 2 and 5 traded in their long tresses for something a little more manageable, (and they both look so grown up I don't think I like it.)

Only Son lost another tooth. I didn't think he had anymore to loose.

Thats pretty much been our week. I am looking forward to the weekend. Maybe a little rest and relaxation. (Who am I kidding? It will be full I am sure!)

New Blog

It crazy I know but let me explain. I have two things I am very passionate about, My family and my Hobby (obsession as my husband would say.) I have been trying to combine both on one blog and it hasn't worked very well for a couple of reasons.

1. Some who want to know what up with family don't really care about my other interests.

2. People from work and classes that I send to my blog, really don't care to much about my family!

So the solution is to start another blog. Thus the Idea Closet was born. It is a blog with ideas for not only scrapbooking but other crafts as well. I will post pictures of classes and projects I am working on along with ideas from others places to inspire the crafter in all of us. So if you or someone you know needs an idea or wants to share an idea, visit the Idea Closet (link to the side). If you only want to know the latest gossip in our family stay here.

I hope to see you at both!

School for D1?

Okay, so everyone has been asking about D1 and why she is still home. No, she did not get kicked out of school, she actually did very well this first semester. She also is not engaged, (all though she really, really, REALLY likes this young man she is dating). D1 is on a Summer/Fall schedule so she is home (and looking for a job) until April, at which time she will go back to school until the Holidays the end of 2009.

Its been nice having her home and we enjoy the time we get with her, who knows what this next year will bring.....

The Wonderful Holdiays

As everyone knows, I love Christmas and this year was so nice. Here are just a few photos.

Just before Santa comes. (remember there are 8 of us!)

Hanging out with Hubbie's Family on Christmas Eve.

Family Home Evening at my mom's house the Monday before.

New Jammies, the best part of Christmas Eve!

Food on New Years Eve.

WE spent time with Family and with each other. We played games, laughed, sang songs and watched movies. My greatest gift was having everyone home. I don't know how much longer that will happen so for now I am so grateful when it does.

New Years Eve was a lot of fun also. Daughters 2 and 3 spent the evening with friends while the rest of us hung out at home. As always, I fix each persons favorite thing to eat so we have an odd collection of food. We played Gestures and had a guitar Hero Battle (I lost!).

I have been very blessed this past year. I am a little nervous as we look forward to this new year, I am sure there will be changes, trials and struggles but I know there will also be new blessings in store for us as well.

I hope all of you had a great Christmas too!
